Location: The building is in a quiet location of the Belmont/Hawthorne district
just
a short walk from gourmet shopping at Zupan’s, etc. and has excellent
transit service.
Some
Building Details (Santa Lucia—2934 SE Morrison,
Portland, Oregon):
The original building was built in 1908 as a 4-plex (2 up, 2 down),
had gas lights, a speaking tube and dumbwaiters. In 1927 the building
was remodeled with units split in half (2 studios and 6 one-bedrooms),
electrified, and the front porch enclosed.
In early
2003, following architectural plans of Ken Moholt-Siebert, and
after abatement
and much demolition, new construction began.
Reconfigured back porches and new back stairs were constructed;
window boxes, eave brackets and a trellis were added to the front
façade; an essentially new basement was built with radiant
floor heat in the slab. Click
